The Guide to EMP-Proofing Your Vehicle With a Faraday Car Cover
An EMP could wipe out every uncovered electronic you own. The CYPHERCYLENT™ EMP Faraday Car Cover shields vehicles and large survival electronics from electromagnetic pulse events, coronal mass ejections, and RF signal intrusion, and it is built to the size and configuration your site actually needs.
As of 2026 we no longer offer the Exodus drape-style car and motorcycle covers. All Mission Darkness vehicle shielding is now built on the CYPHERCYLENT door-style construction, which we standardized on for its carbon fiber frame, sealed magnetic entry, and ability to be built to any vehicle and any site.
If you arrived here looking for an Exodus cover, the CYPHERCYLENT EMP Faraday Car Cover is the direct replacement.
An EMP does not knock. It arrives, and the electronics are simply gone.
Electromagnetic pulses pose a real risk to the digital infrastructure modern life depends on. They can come from natural sources such as solar flares and coronal mass ejections, or from human-made events such as a nuclear detonation, and they can disable electronic devices and systems instantly, vehicles included.
Historically, the technology built to defend against EMP threats belonged to military and government agencies, protecting operational vehicles and critical survival electronics from electromagnetic disturbance. Mission Darkness™ makes that once-restricted technology available to organizations and individuals, which is what has moved the EMP-resistant vehicle cover from a doomsday-prepper curiosity to a practical asset-protection decision.
Why Vehicles Sit at the Top of the Exposure List
An EMP induces high currents and voltages in electronic systems, and that surge causes permanent damage rather than a temporary outage. Modern vehicles carry dozens of networked control modules, so an event can take out communication, navigation, and basic drivability at the exact moment mobility matters most.
Reporting on EMP risk to vehicles makes a point that surprises most people. Gasoline cars are exposed too, not just EVs, because both rely on electronics for propulsion, navigation, and cabin systems. Outcomes depend on the strength and proximity of the event and on how well the vehicle's components happen to be shielded.
CYPHERCYLENT EMP Faraday Car Cover
A door-style, tent-built shielded enclosure for a vehicle. Drive in, seal the door, and the vehicle is inside a continuous conductive envelope. It replaces our earlier drape-style vehicle covers with a more robust structure, a real entry door, and full customization.

The standard configuration is sized to hold a Tesla Cybertruck, and it fits all vehicle types, not only trucks and EVs. Every dimension can be rebuilt to your vehicle and your space.
One Cover, Configured Around Your Vehicle and Your Building
The standard model is a starting point. Dimensions, entry design, internal layout, and hardening options are all specified per order, which is what makes the same system work for a home garage, a government motor pool, and a forensic vehicle bay.
Any Size, Any Vehicle
Dimensions are built to the vehicle and the room it lives in, from SUVs and tactical trucks to armored personnel carriers, mobile command units, trailers, and towable generators.
Vestibule Entrance
An added airlock-style chamber at the door, so personnel and equipment can move in and out while the main vehicle bay stays shielded and sealed.
Storage Sections
Additional shielded compartments alongside the vehicle bay for generators, solar panels, spare electronics, radios, and tooling that need the same protection.
Shielded Filter Panels
Filtered penetrations let power and data cross the boundary through engineered hardware instead of an open seam, so the envelope stays continuous while equipment stays connected.
EMP Hardening
Power connections can be specified with EMP surge arresters, giving internal connectivity without turning the feed line into the weak point of the enclosure.
Waterproof Outer Cover
A waterproof outer cover layer can be specified over the shielded envelope for sites where the enclosure is exposed to moisture or dust.
Audio Dampening Walls
Wall construction can be upgraded to reduce acoustic transfer, which matters when the shielded space doubles as a location for sensitive conversation or recording.
Flooring and Transport
Protective conductive floor systems and wheeled transport cases are specified with the build, so the enclosure can be relocated or stored without damaging the fabric.

The RFMagLink Magnetic Door Closure System
The weakest point of any shielded enclosure is the way it opens. The door panel folds over the top of the frame to create a wide entryway for driving a vehicle in, then folds down and seals magnetically and conductively along multiple redundant rows of magnets in the door frame.
That is the practical difference between a cover you set up once and never touch, and an enclosure you can actually use. The vehicle goes in and out on your schedule, and the seal is re-established every time without tape, clamps, or guesswork.
Post-Event, a Working Vehicle Is Not Convenience. It Is Capability.
In a world this dependent on technology, whether your vehicle starts after an event determines whether you can move people, reach supplies, and stay reachable. In the case of a HEMP, EMP, or CME, damage can run from national electrical infrastructure down to the electronics in your pocket, which is why irreplaceable and survival-critical equipment is worth shielding before anything happens.
The same enclosure that protects a vehicle protects everything parked beside it. Customers use these covers for portable generators, solar panels, communication devices, navigation tools, and electronic medical equipment, all of which become significantly harder to replace in exactly the scenario they are needed.
Where These Covers Are Actually Deployed
Preparedness and Continuity
Protecting a primary vehicle and the survival electronics stored with it, as part of a continuity-of-operations or household preparedness plan.
Government and Military Fleets
Shielding command vehicles, tactical transport, and mobile units so electronic systems remain mission ready through an EMP or CME event.
Vehicle Forensics
Holding a seized vehicle in RF isolation so it cannot be remotely accessed, tampered with, located, or surveilled while it is examined. See vehicle forensics.
EMI and RF Testing
Providing an interference-free volume for hardware, software, and EMI testing where ambient RF would otherwise contaminate results.
Aerospace and R&D
Developing and testing sensitive equipment inside a controlled environment free from external RF interference.
Secure Operations
Supporting secure communications work and electronic countermeasures where a portable, sealable shielded volume is required on site.
Plan the Install, Not Just the Purchase
A shielded vehicle enclosure performs the way it is installed. A short checklist saves most of the problems people run into.
- Measure the vehicle and the room, including door height and swing clearance, before finalizing dimensions.
- Plan for a dry indoor space where the cover can stay assembled rather than being moved repeatedly.
- Allow multiple people for assembly, since the frame and cover are built and tensioned together.
- Install the protective floor mats before driving in, so tires and movement cannot tear the fabric.
- Wear the supplied handling gloves whenever the conductive fabric is touched.
- Test the door seal several times and adjust the tension straps until closure is even.
- Keep the fabric away from outlets, plugs, cables, and other sources of electricity.
- Never idle the engine inside the cover, and keep the opening fully expanded while driving in or out.
Beyond the cover itself, a complete plan is worth building out. Backup power, analog communication, and non-electronic navigation tools all add resilience that no single enclosure can provide on its own.
