MOS Equipment Products Certified MIL-STD-188-125 Compliant

MOS Equipment, the maker of Mission Darkness™ faraday bags and analysis enclosures, is proud to announce that several products recently underwent rigorous lab testing to certify that they meet military standards MIL-STD-188-125. This compliance measure not only ensures that the products shield against high-altitude electromagnetic pulses (HEMPs) and related occurrences, such as coronal mass ejections (CMEs), electrostatic discharges (ESDs), and solar flares, but provides concrete proof to the shielding ability and effectiveness of most Mission Darkness product offerings.

The positive test results also serve as added peace of mind for our customers who demand guaranteed high shielding products either to be used in the digital forensics field, military, government, aerospace, security, health, privacy, or construction industries.

MOS Equipment aims to offer extremely high-quality, effective, security solutions for a variety of digital threats and scenarios. The high-level testing conducted was not mandatory or typically sought after for a company specializing in radio frequency (RF) shielding enclosures for law enforcement and forensic investigators. In fact, we are one of the only faraday product manufacturers that have taken advantage of shielding effectiveness testing (or perhaps the only one). We decided to go through this process to gain concrete credibility for our product performance claims and to help our customers understand our general RF shielding capabilities, including shielding against EMPs.

We continue to acquire various shielding effectiveness certifications in order to support our performance claims, including the newly achieved results from IEEE 299-2006 (click the link to view separate shielding effectiveness test results).

Testing Completed by Keystone Compliance, an Accredited Regulatory Compliance Laboratory

The shielding effectiveness test was conducted by Keystone Compliance, a full-service regulatory compliance laboratory offering solutions for nearly all EMC/EMI, environmental, ISTA-certified package and ingress protection testing requirements.

Keystone Compliance's shielding effectiveness testing determines the materials ability to reduce the electromagnetic field in a space by blocking the field with barriers made of conductive and/or magnetic materials. Multiple shielding effectiveness tests were performed to conclude that the Mission Darkness products tested were certified "compliant" for High-Altitude Electromagnetic Protection for Ground Based C4I Facilities. The results ensure that the products surpass military shielding requirements to handle natural or man-made EMPs.

Furthermore, the results are significant because they support the claim that electronic devices will be protected from the detrimental effects of an EMP when shielded inside a Mission Darkness faraday enclosure.

The frequency range investigated and all test results are noted in the report generated by Keystone Compliance.

Mission Darkness TitanRF Faraday Fabric is the main shielding component for most of the Mission Darkness Faraday bags and enclosures. Since the amount of layers used to create a certain product is one of the main determining factors related to the products signal attenuation, we decided to test single, double, and triple fabric layers to get a better understanding of how fabric layering relates to the increase in signal attenuation. This also shows us how many layers are needed to create a product that is rated for specific attenuation needs.

Mission Darkness TitanRF faraday Fabric shielding effectiveness report

The Mission Darkness Non-window Faraday Bag for Laptops is a popular "binded edge" style faraday bag that shares similar construction and fabric layering to most binded edge style bags within the Mission Darkness lineup. We chose to send this faraday bag in for testing because it allows us to extrapolate the belief that the bags that have similar construction will also pass and be considered MIL-STD 188-125 compliance.

Example of products that share similar "binded edge" construction:  Non-window Faraday Bag for Phones | Non-window Faraday Bag for Tablets |  BlockBox Touch

The Mission Darkness Revelation EMP Shield for Generators  is a "liner" style faraday bag that shares similar construction and fabric layering to most other liner style bags within the Mission Darkness lineup. We chose to send this faraday bag in for testing because it also allows us to extrapolate the belief that the bags that have similar construction will also pass and be considered MIL-STD 188-125 compliance.

Example of products that share similar "liner" construction: Faraday Bag for Keyfobs | Mojave Faraday Bag for Phones | Dry Shield Faraday Tote 15L | Dry Shield Faraday Backpack 40L | X2 Faraday Duffel Bag | Padded Utility Faraday Bag | MOLLE Faraday Pouch
